Thing I am doing now

  • Pulling code and compiling git@github.com:edwin-oetelaar/dpdaemon.git
  • should we keep 2 versions ? eddaemon and dpdaemon
  • I think we can compile this on Windows-10 using WSL2 (windows subsystem linux)
    • We can not use WSL2 in a virtualized Windows-10, nesting hypervisors does not work, even when bios and virtualbox have it enabled
    • Working with WSL2, Ubuntu on a normal Windows laptop without dual boot works fine, network connections from inside should work, but need testing
    • I suggest we focus on Linux-native users and WSL2 users, not native windows or Mac users

Compiles cleanly with

git clone git@github.com:edwin-oetelaar/dpdaemon.git cd dpdaemon make

fix 1 bug, clean compile now

Converting Eagle circuit boards to Kicad

  • import into pro 9.x version of eagle (linked to fusion 360 account)
  • export as eagle 7.x version
  • import into kicad 5 or 6 pre
  • fix things
  • Bob will take existing boards and make mounting hole spacing 40 mm outside dimension 48 mm
  • we call the new version “Black-Boards”

Video creation on youtube

  • Unboxing of the system and the cards
  • Why the system is useful
  • What place does it have in the arduino/raspberry-Pi ecosystem
  • Building reliable
  • Building quickly
  • Who is the target audience (promise of the arduino letting you down?)
  • Better documentation
  • Fully open hardware
  • A real design, based on a vision of a controlling API works on Linux and others
  • License for commercial use
  • Commercial support and customisation

Grouping features to create traction in the mind

Sponsoring the project

  • Maybe Open Collective, just like Open Broadcaster Software https://opencollective.com/obsproject
  • Allow supporters to use Patreon to support project
  • Allow People to send Bitcoin to project
  • Go onto Crowd Supply and release a new FPGA board + kit, based on experience (we can show how it works)

Who What Why

  • Engineers or aspiring makers are target
  • some knowledge required
  • explain what FPGA is what can it do that is hard
  • why are FPGA boards seldom used outside of big companies?
  • can we do precise timing
  • can we do real random number generators
  • can we do encryption to make communication secure and private
  • do we have a patent
  • trouble with long wires, I2C and other bus systems
  • does it cost a lot of money
  • do you get value for your money
  • can you make money using selling and contributing to the ecosystem
  • explain why creating stuff is so difficult and expensive
  • We are not sales people
  • We are like you, we have done this and learned some lessons
  • We want to help you by sharing
  • we struggle with the business part, just like all tech people
  • we our tech is cool and everyone should see it and use it
  • If you contribute you get credit and money
  • Building robots and machines is cool and is the future
  • we like sci fi movies
  • we like to hear from you
  • we like your feedback on our work
  • we will change thing if we hear a good idea
  • we will sell some hardware because it make your life easier
  • everything will be open and free so you can take it and use it forever
  • we spent lots of time writing drivers and code, use it, make it better and share it again
  • engineers make the world go round
  • technology drives progress, creates more wealth, health and enables art, art is exclusively for humans
  • we are trying something new and want you to participate in our journey
  • we do not want to stuff that goes in a drawer and in the trash
  • we use high quality parts
  • we have a system to integrate new parts into our API
  • you can build anything quickly
  • solve your problem quickly
  • one video every week for a year about working with the ecosystem
  • we will spend a full year on promoting and trying to find you, the people who need and want it
  • as a contributor, you can upload your profile, show your work and get paid, it is a good way to show your skills
  • if you have a problem, we will suggest a solution, with or without our system
  • we need to formulate a code of conduct (internally and for contributors)
  • we need a public manifesto about what we value, open, free tech and expression for all without exception
  • we use open source software wherever possible, even if it is more effort sometimes
  • we need to define our niche clearly
  • we need other people close to our niche to participate, eg youtube channels or blogs
  • we to find common values for all our followers
  • we care about tech more than money
  • we can not create a “tribe” without showing public leadership
  • we should not take ourselves seriously, we are however serious about the work we do
  • we can be and will always be nerds and never change into sales people or actors/influencers
  • so many people in the world, all we need is 1 in a million to make this platform great
  • you can sell boards and solutions based on the platform
  • if you want our stamp of approval, you need to comply with the fully open license and allow others to improve and adapt your work
  • we will not take away your rights, or abandon the project, there is no risk in participation
  • we will use English as our main language but welcome translations
  • please write proper English and accept corrections, use DeepL or other quality translator to verify your texts
  • we like to be mentioned on public forums or social media, twitter, linked-in and… make a list
  • about us, we are not kids, we have tech experience to share
  • we will mention all contributors to the project on our youtube channel and give credit where it is due
  • if you have a tech or any related channel on youtube we will mention you if you like, will you mention us too?

Channels on youtube to connect to

  • Control the universe with the Eduino.io project
  • use of the DPI vs Eduino brand name for the project…
  • Make 1 project eg. the Tigard board available in the shop and promote it on all media to see what works

Template for youtube post

  • This video is about ….
  • Check out our previous video about …. in case you missed that
  • We will be covering points a b c
